The trip to Mantayupan Falls was an unplanned one but I always had an inkling to go there many years before. Since I have been passing by Barili almost every month but never really got the chance. One rainy April morning we were on our way to Tangil Wharf, Dumanjug going to Guihulngan, Negros Oriental.
This Falls is not so popular as compared to Kawasan Falls in Badian and the Tumalog Falls in Oslob, nobody knows about this place am really not sure why but locals said that this place was closed for some time and then opened again for the public just recently.
It has 3 levels of falls and the grandest is on the top. I was shocked at how tall the falls is and the water was so inviting too bad we didn't have enough time to swim into it.
We knew we could not catch the 9AM ferry ride so we should wait for the next one at 11AM. We had a little bit of time with us so I suggested we go there to check it out for ourselves and besides I have never seen waterfalls in real life for more than 14 years...hahahaha! We asked for directions, looked at the signs and with a good samaritan Kuya, he guided us to the street that finally will lead us to the falls. After only about 15 minutes from the highway, we reached our destination.
Paid the entrance of 40pesos and up we went. It was rainy throughout the morning so the stones were slippery and the hanging bridge was kinda scary. The falls itself was majestic, the surroundings were clean and there were less people the time we visited. It was a very nice calming experience for my first Falls this year hopefully won't be my last. Should we dared swim we can rent life jackets for 20pesos...not bad pricing right?
the hanging bridge scary and slippery
So what is our verdict for the this place?
We have a 5 star point ratings and this one is 4/5.
Why? The place was preserved, respected by the community running it. Price very much affordable and its not so difficult to reach. People were friendly too.
Kudos to the people running this place. Keep it clean and protect it anytime.
Will we come back to take a dip? Yes, definitely if time permits it!
